cashier:
(plural: ‘cashiers‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘c’ is said with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”)

a cashier in his cage
a person, an employee, in charge of money – receipts and payments – in an office, organisation, bank, hotel, shop, etc.,
an officer at a bank (a bank clerk) who deals with cash/money transactions — receives deposits of money, clears cheques and drafts, etc. of the clients; a teller,

a cashier (R) receiving cash from a customer (L)
A cashier of an organisations deals with the day to day cash/money transactions — like receiving payments, paying dues — and enters them in a ledger, and a treasurer deals with the monthly or annual budget and makes decisions as to what to spend money on or who to give how much, etc.
In most banks, a cashier sits behind a grilled partition so that he/she and the money are safe from anybody who plans to rob the money.
Cashiers are to be more careful while dealing with customers because once he/she gives extra money and the customer leaves the cash counter with it, the cashier or the bank has no claim over that money; the cashier has to pay that extra amount from his/her own pocket!
