Conger eels are a food source; but they are more favoured as game fish, for angling.
These eels go long distances to lay eggs; both male and female eels go to a far away coast from where they normally live and spawn (lay eggs) and then die immediately!
They lay eggs only once in their life but lay millions of them.
The larvae swim back all the way to where their parents lived, and keep growing all through the way, and when it is their turn to lay eggs, they swim back to the place where they were born, like salmon fish!!
conger eel eyes = protruding eyes – eyes that bulge out
