escapist:
(plural: ‘escapists‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘c’ in this word is pronounced with a ‘k’ sound as in “king”)
a person who avoids the unpleasant realities of the world and keeps away from responsibilities through daydreaming or fantasy, or in cheap entertainment,

an escapist, living in a world of her own
Paul is annoyed when people call him an escapist just because he refuses take up certain activities that do not suite his ideals.
There are some philosophers who believe that escapists are not to be despised because they have a serious point in their argument, such as ‘how many of us really solve a difficult problem permanently’.
My teacher says that those religious gurus and ascetics are none other than mere escapists who actually make a lot of money for doing nothing, except, of course, talking the gullible into listen to whatever they say!
An ‘escapee’ (previous entry) is a person who runs away from a confined place physically to find freedom outside — from inside to outside; whereas an ‘escapist’ is a person who runs away or tries to get away from realities and responsibilities mentally, probably because of a weak mind or very lazy nature, and tries to escape into his/her own imaginary world or fantasy — runs away into his/her own mind — from outside into inside!
