a person who works on a farm for money;
a farm labourer; a farm worker,
There are several stories in which a man who has started his life as a mere farm hand has become a rich farmer.
In some countries in Asia, farm hands are seasonal labourers finding work only during cultivation and harvesting crops and the rest of the time they are without work and income.
As is the case with many other careers, including careers in industries, agricultural mechanisation has made many farm hands jobless through out the year, and consequently, more and more rural populations migrate to urban areas in the hope of working as labourers in the construction field.
