fuddy-duddy:
(plural: ‘fuddy-duddies‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘u’ in both words rhymes with the letter ‘u’ in “but”; for the right pronunciation of this word, please click here)
a person who does not understand, approve of or accept modern ideas;
an elderly person who is dull and old-fashioned; a fogy,

a fuddy-duddy (Ken Russell, film director — called himself a fuddy-duddy)
Though commonly used for an elderly person with old-fashioned views, ‘fuddy-duddy’ is also used for a young person who is dull and uninteresting.
Most children think that their parents are fuddy-duddies because they don’t allow the children to be ‘free’ and ‘modern’, forgetting the fact that when they, the pert little youngsters, get into trouble because of their ‘fastness’, the same old fuddy-duddies are the ones to come to their rescue!
The use of this word seems to satisfy the deep-rooted grudge a person has towards someone he/she hates, for instance, President Obama of the USA, did not hesitate to use this word in public to vent out his hatred towards his political opponents at a White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in April, 2012.
