glider:
(also hang glider; plural: ‘gliders‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘g’ in this word rhymes with the letter ‘g’ in the word “garden”)
a person who flies using a glider/hang glider,

a hang glider high up in the air
Abbas Ibn Firnas, in 857, is known to be the first hang glider who, according to the records, glided through the air for about ten minutes on the first glider (aircraft) which was a wooden frame with feathers attached fitted to his arms and/or back.
Like in every adventurous sport, gliding/hang gliding has its disadvantages and accidents, and several gliders/hang gliders have fallen to ground or crashed into tall trees and lost their lives.
Surfers must know how to balance their bodies standing on a surfing board, and in the same way, gliders/hang gliders must know how to shift/move their body weight in controlling the glider/hang glider (aircraft).
