In the present urban usage, a “fag hag” is a woman who likes to be with gays, but does not like to be involved in sexual activities of any kind.
There have been incidents where quite some good women were accused of practising witch craft, labelled as hags and beaten to death by the angry locals just because those innocent women were ugly or arrogant!
Though there is more than enough proof to show that ‘hag’ had its origins from an Old English word ‘hægtesse’ which means a witch or fury, there are some feminists, women who fight for their rights and demand for equal treatment, who argue that this word is from a Greek word ‘hagia’ which means “holy”!
