handler:
(plural: ‘handlers‘)

an animal handler at a zoo
a person whose job is to control an animal, as in a zoo or circus;
a person whose job or business is to take care of things or people while sending them from one place to another;
a trainer or a supporting boxer/partner of a champion boxer,

a baggage handler at an airport
There are several types of handlers: animal handlers at zoos and circuses, baggage handlers at airports, bus and railway stations, (sports) handlers at boxing rings and gyms, political handlers during general elections in a state, transport handler at a large hotel or travel and tours operations, etc.
Of all the handler jobs, the job of an animal handler is riskier because animals, especially wild animals, tend to behave like animals and cause injuries to their handlers however long they may be looked after by the same handler or however tame they may look.
A politician’s win or loss depends, to a certain degree, on his/her handlers who run his/her election campaign.
It is not uncommon to see a news article or two about the baggage handlers at some airport striking to drive their point home on their demands, and more often than not, the passengers are the worst sufferers as a result of such tussles!
