a historian at work
We were lucky to be taught by Prof. James Dean, the world renowned historian who gave us the real idea of what history was.
There are two main categories of historians: amateur historians who study the past just for pleasure, and professional historians who make studying the past their job; and in both categories, there are different sub-kinds of historians depending on the ‘subject’ they choose: political historians, architectural historians, language historians and even fashion historians!
We get important facts about the life in the past from the combined efforts/works/findings of historians, anthropologists, geographers and archaeologists.
Some people believe that historians have harmed us as much as they helped us; for instance, it was a historian’s personal opinion/theory that Germans were the descendants of Aryans and that they were destined to rule world influenced Hitler of Nazi Germany and encouraged him to start the World War Two.
