mediator:
(plural: ‘mediators‘; female: ‘mediatrix’)
a person, a group, an organisation or a country that acts as a link between two or more people or groups, called parties, that are at some disagreement or fight, and tries to bring about peace or agreement between them by talking to them wisely and reasonably so that all the parties involved are satisfied;
a middleman; a go-between; a negotiator,
Some Kenyans are against Koffi Anan, the former UNO Secretary General, acting as a mediator in their political issues, accusing him of being more of a meddler than a mediator.
In some cases, a warring party at a seemingly disadvantageous position may accuse the mediator as being a meddler, and its rival may respect the same mediator as being a saviour!
There are mediators everywhere… in businesses, politics and even in family disputes of common people, doing their best to resolve disagreements and finding amicable solutions to problems.
