pickup:
(plural: ‘pickups‘)
Apart from several other more common meanings/definitions …
the driver of a bus (L) accepting a pickup (R)/ a passenger
a person who is given a ride in a bus, taxi, car, etc., usually for money;
a passenger (or goods);
a hitchhiker;
a stranger with whom a person makes casual friends, usually in order to have sex,
a taxi driver (L) and his pickup (R), giving him a large tip
e.g.
Most taxi drivers get huge tips from airport pickups.
Some motorists hesitate to accept pickups when they are on a long journey. (i.e. hitchhikers)
John brought a beautiful pickup to his friend’s place and they all had a blasting night. (i.e. they all had sex with that woman)
a man with a pickup (a casual acquaintance)
{Note: ‘Pickup’ is more commonly used to refer to a small truck that carries goods.}
