a popinjay bragging about himself
a worthless but very talkative person;
a person who has no talents but brags too much about him/herself,
a typical popinjay — showy, proud and talkative
e.g.
Richard is a popinjay who brags that he can write science fiction stories better than Issac Asimov!
People never stop worshipping political and religious popinjays.
{Note: ‘Popinjay’ is also used to refer to a parrot and to a figure of a parrot used for target practice.}
