press baron:
(also ‘media baron‘, ‘press lord‘, ‘media mogul‘, ‘press/media tycoon‘, ‘press/media boss‘, ‘media magnate‘; plural: ‘press barons‘)
{‘press’, in this context = all the newspapers, radio, TV news channels, etc.}
a business person who has/controls one or more national newspapers and/or TV channels, (in the present day usage, this phrase includes the owner of a publishing house/agency, film studio, radio or TV networks, internet domains, etc.),
e.g.
Keith Rupert Murdoch is the best example of a press baron.
It is very interesting to read about Conrad Black, the former press baron, was sentenced to six and a half years in jail for cheating his employer in 2007, and was released from jail on bail!
The general public is made to believe what the press barons and the politicians want it to believe.
