provider:
(plural: ‘providers‘)
a person who regularly gives the necessary things to others;
a person (or an agency or system) who continuously supplies services or necessary things to others;

Children of parents who are good providers become to be responsible citizens and affectionate parents.
A husband’s role as a good provider is still a universally accepted practice though a wife’s role as a provider is fast establishing, mostly in the developed nations and in the metropolitan cities of underdeveloped countries.
When it comes to family planning in the illiterate societies, most people believe that the Provider is the One who has given us children and so He will provide them with their needs! (i.e. God has given us children and so He will provide)
