punk:
(plural: ‘punks‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘u’ rhymes with the letter ‘u’ as in “but”)
Apart from several other meanings/definitions…
a young person who behaves badly against the established old rules, morals, social norms, etc., usually wearing flashy or out of the ordinary clothes and hair-styles, saying slogans that are against the present society, often using drugs, etc.; (especially refers to a youth movement in 1970s)
a young and inexperienced person;
an indecent, worthless young person;
(in law) a young petty but aggressive criminal; a hoodlum; a wrong doer;
a young homosexual man who is the sexual partner of an older man;
(less commonly) a prostitute;
(also ‘punk rocker’) a young person who is a member of the ‘punk rock’ music,
e.g.
Though he is a teacher, his way of dressing, his hair-style and the language he uses make people think he’s a punk!
The police have a tough time dealing with the local punks who are caught doing wrong.
I wonder how people stand those ‘punk rockers’ and their punk music which is full of indecent language and loud sounds.
