(In America & Europe) a person one of whose four grandparents is black, i.e. one of the four grandparents is of African origin and the rest of the three are of European origin — 1/4 of his blood is of African origin by birth ;
a person one of whose parents is a mulatto and the other a white person, i.e. a person of European origin;
(In Australia) a person one of whose four grandparents is aborigine, i.e. indigenous/local person, and the rest of the three are Europeans,
e.g.
Sylvia has a big problem marrying Robert because she is a quadroon and he is a Caucasian, i.e. he is of pure European blood, so she isn’t sure his parents will consent to their marriage.
