registered Nurse:
(in short: RN; plural: ‘registered nurses‘)
(mostly in the United States of America) a trained medical person who is officially allowed to practise as a nurse;
a qualified and licensed nurse,
e.g.
Martha passed the state registration exam and is now a registered nurse and can practise nursing in any medical unit.
Though there are a lot of local registered nurses, there is still a dearth of them and the medical department is planning to invite qualified nurses from abroad.
Though the nursing filed is dominated by women, there are more men opting to take nursing courses and becoming registered nurses as there are good positions open for them in many medical institutions.
