The word ‘engineer’ refer to any qualified person who knows about physical or chemical science and who produce something new or more advanced product with the help of the raw material and human resources available.
There are different kinds of engineers: civil engineer who knows the science of building structures; electrical engineer who know the science of using electricity in a better, cheap and safe way; mechanical engineer who knows how to make machines that help us work faster, better and cheaper; chemical engineer who knows how to use chemical in producing other things; computer engineer who knows the science of computers; and, in addition, there are several streams in each main subject!

Anita Rebarchak, training to be a mechanical engineer
Most of us want to know the difference between a mechanic and mechanical engineer, and the difference may be that a mechanical engineer designs a machine, rather improves an already existing model or invents a new one, with certain specifications, for example, a machine that can lay bricks on a wall automatically, and he/she knows how many levers and wheels and other parts are needed and what size, strength and shape the levers and other parts should be, and then, it is the job of a mechanic who actually fits the parts in their places on a production line in a factory and also follows up the maintenance part (repairing) once the machine comes out into the market!
