station master:
(also written without the space between the two words: ‘stationmaster’; plural: ‘station masters‘)
an officer in charge of a railway station;
(less commonly) an officer in charge of a bus station,
Mr Donald has been the station master of our town and has seen how the railways has developed from slow steam locomotive to fast bullet trains, and has worked all his life to make our station the best in our region.
There are some railway stations that so busy that they have a station master and several assistant station master to assist the master who keep their eyes peeled and ears clean all the time so that there won’t be any mishap and loss of life and property.
Though everybody knows that station masters are mere officers at their stations and the running of trains is a long process that starts some where and ends some where else, there are often some incidents where station masters are held responsible and even man-handled for the delays in some train schedules!
