plagiarist:
(also ‘plagiariser‘ or ‘plagiarizer‘; plural: ‘plagiarists‘; pronunciation: the letter ‘g’ is said with a ‘j’ sound as in “judge”)
a person who copies other people’s work, usually somebody’s story, music or art, without permission and uses it as if it were his/her in order to get popularity or money;
a literary pirate, i.e. an educated person who steals ideas, stories, themes, etc. from other famous or popular people and claims them to be his/her own,
e.g.
Some people accuse Spielberg, the most famous Hollywood movie director, of being a plagiarist, copying ideas and scenes from other studios, such as Walt Disney.
Kaavya Viswanathan, an Indian law student at Harvard University, USA, was alleged to be the most sensational plagiarist of the year. (She was accused of copying not just the ideas but some entire paragraphs from another writer’s books and using them in her best selling books.)
